The reason that we chose Siu Mei as our topic is that I believe that SiuMei is one of the few foods in Hong Kong that can represent the characteristics and unique food culture of Hong Kong. We also want tourists to enjoy the lively environment in different Cha Chaan Tang while enjoying the Siu Mei. And usually, this delicious meal is not getting a lot of attention from foreign tourists. Hence, we chose this topic and created an app on EduVenture to guide tourists to try out different kinds of Siu Mei located in both Central and Chai Wan, where almost all high-rating Siu Mei Cha Chaan Tang is located. This gives references to tourists on which Cha Chaan Tang that they can enjoy Siu Mei in. We hope that the tourists can go to recommended Siu Mei Cha Chaan Tang and have fun on their trip to Hong Kong.
Siu Mei is a traditional Canton food which originated in Guang Zhou. It spread to Hong Kong and soon became another dish that represented Hong Kong culturally. In our EduVenture project, we investigated many different types of Siu Mei, including Cha Chaan Tang style, Western style, traditional style, and more. We dove deep into the Siu Mei restaurants in Central and Chai Wan, as those areas had the most signature restaurants.
